Kate Permenter is a Speech-Language Pathologist who began practicing as a clinician in 2007. Kate graduated with her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, TX.
Her career began under the mentorship of Alicia Hughes, SLP, while completing her Clinical Fellowship at Active Development Therapies, LLC in Porter, TX. Kate accumulated many hours of continuing education with aural rehabilitation, pragmatic skills, and early language development. Her love for the hearing-impaired population was seen through her treatment of children with hearing aids, cochlear implants, or those without assistive technology.
She was considered a lead therapist, not only for those in the Speech Pathology department but also for the physical and occupational therapy departments. In 2014, Kate accepted a Speech-Language Pathology position in the primary and middle school levels at Aldine ISD. Throughout her years of practice, she has taken continuing education courses that have allowed her to provide specialized treatment, including, but not limited to: PECS™ trained, Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) and Texas Assistive Technology Network (TATN) training, and has recently begun courses to become certified in Integrated Listening Systems (iLs).
In 2015, she co-founded Beyond Words. Kate herself is a native of Southeast Texas and knew the need in the area. She currently resides back in the Southeast Texas area.
