Alicia Hughes is a Speech-Language Pathologist who has been practicing since 2002. Upon graduating from Baylor University with her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders she accepted a position as a Clinical Fellow with a pediatric home health company in Spring, TX.
After completing her fellowship and earning her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA, her family relocated to San Antonio where she was the lead Speech-Language Pathologist at Marion ISD. In 2004, Alicia and her family returned to the Kingwood area of Houston. She was invited to assist in the start-up of a Pediatric Rehabilitation Facility, Active Development Therapies, LLC, by a previous colleague. Alicia remained at Active Development Therapies until 2015, receiving promotions throughout her tenure from Director of Speech Pathology to Director of Operations.
Alicia has an extensive background with dysphagia and feeding aversion, along with early language development. She is certified to provide dysphagia treatment utilizing VitalStim®, LSVT LOUD-trained and TalkTools™-trained, along with many other areas that allow her to provide a comprehensive treatment plan to fit the needs of each individual client.
In August 2015, Alicia and her family returned to Southeast Texas. Knowing there was a need in the community for Speech Pathology services, Alicia, along with Kate Permenter, SLP, opened Beyond Words in Beaumont, TX. Alicia currently resides in Sour Lake, TX.
