Our Special Services

Specialized Programs and Services

Parent Training: Parent training is involved with all of our therapy patients. We assign a Home Program to all for maximum opportunities to practice what was learned in the therapy session. The assignment of this Home Program relies on the child’s progress being made at any given time. However, it is the goal of Beyond Words to develop several opportunities to train parents. These involve but are not limited to, support groups, AAC training, Social Language Skills training, etc.

Support Groups: We are dedicated to creating a network of parents and caregivers, along with others dealing with various difficulties and challenges to raising children or living with those affected by developmental diagnoses.

Spina Bifida Support Group: Beyond Words has begun hosting a support group for families affected by Spina Bifida. We invite you to come join our group - check out our Facebook page for meeting dates!

Developmental Social Language Groups: Our clinicians have developed a specific curriculum to allow preschool-age children to learn necessary language skills (receptive, expressive and pragmatic) in a group setting. The curriculum is designed to encourage play, joint attention, peer interaction, unstructured and structured learning and acquisition of global language concepts. These groups will be 1:1 therapist to child ratio, with groups up to three children; lasting for two hours per session, twice a week. Insurance is not accepted for this program.

Integrated Listening Systems (iLs): This is a multi-sensory intervention that may be incorporated into the existing therapeutic program. The system combines music, movement, and language to increase overall skills. The iLs system is an Evidence-Based Therapy approach for individuals with disorders/challenges in the area reading, writing, attention, processing, and cognitive function. iLs has been shown to be particularly effective with individuals with autism, dyslexia and auditory processing disorders.
